Here is the surprise.  It doesn't cost as much money nor does it take as long to get a real estate license as you may think.

At Keller Williams Realty we can offer the classes for $410 at The Texas Institute of Real Estate.  That is for ALL of the classes combined and are all online. The real estate license classes that you will be taking are:

 

• Principles Of Real Estate

• Law Of Agency

• Laws of Contracts

• Promulgated Contracts

• Real Estate Finance

 

Those classes are a total of 180 hours.  That does not mean that you have to sit in front of your computer for 180 hours.  You can do the classes at your own pace.  

 

The next two fees are $173 to apply for the license with the state and a fingerprint fee of $41.45.  

 

In order to get your real estate license you have to take a test.  Yuck.  The cost of the test is $61. There are two parts to the test, state and local. There is a testing location in Amarillo.

 

If you do not pass the test the first time (very common) you will have to pay the $61 each time. That part is not so great.
